Sun's Zenith Dance - No Shadows, All Magic on Zero Shadow Day!

Recently on Aug 18, Bengaluru witnessed an extraordinary celestial event known as Zero Shadow Day, this phenomenon occurs when the sun aligns directly overhead, causing shadows to virtually disappear. Zero Shadow Day is a unique astronomical occurrence that happens twice a year for locations situated between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, within the latitude range of 23.5 to -23.5 degrees.

The exact moment of this event in Bengaluru was at 12:24 PM, when the sun reaches its zenith, the highest point in its daily path across the sky. During this time, observers will notice their shadows gradually fading away until they become practically invisible. This fascinating spectacle has already occurred once this year in Bengaluru, on April 25, at 12:17 PM.

Bengaluru is not the only location where Zero Shadow Day has been observed. Other places between the tropical latitudes also experience this phenomenon, albeit at different dates.

Zero Shadow Day is not just about shadows disappearing, it is a reminder of how amazing our world is. It is a chance to learn about how the Earth moves, how the sun affects our lives, and how nature surprises us with its wonders.
