My Little Big Town is proud to announce a brand new swashbuckling adventure featuring a merry band of pirates, tons of adventure, a barrel full of laughs and er... a few games of cricket. Pirates Don't Play Cricket is the first book by co-authors Rowan Gibson and New Zealand test cricketer Iain O'Brien, and is due to be released on 10th May 2013. Pirates Don't Play Cricket tells the story of two young friends who stumble across a rag tag crew of cricket playing pirates. They enjoy a game with their new friends and everything seems great, until a viscous ship of evil pirates appears on the horizon. Together the two youngsters, along with their new swashbuckling friends, must defeat the evil pirates with their batting and bowling skills. This exciting tale mixes adventure, humour, cricket references, and a love of sport which will be be enthralling to sports fans both young and old. The book was co-written by Rowan Gibson and New Zealand test cricketer Iain O'Brien. The pace bowler who played in tests for New Zealand between 2005-2009, also played first class cricket for Wellington, Leicestershire and Middlesex County Cricket Club. Iain also regularly commentates for the BBC and Sky. All the images in the book have been beautifully illustrated by Calvin Innes, the man behind the Tiny Twisted Tales collection, illustrator on the Gorgeous George series and founder of My Little Big Town. Accompanying the book will be an interactive iPad app, which will allow users to download voice-overs by a number of international cricketers. Details of which cricketers will be providing voices, will be announced nearer the books launch. A percentage of the money from book sales and in-app purchases will be donated to the UK children's cricketing charity Chance To Shine. Pirates Don't Play Cricket will be the first in a series of sporty books published by My Little Big Town. The next book in the series Dinosaurs Don't Play Rugby will be released in the near future.
