1888-1923, Dundee Upper-class Lucy Graham has always been highly intelligent and fiercely independent. When she tells her parents of her plans to follow her dream of becoming a doctor instead of marrying and having children, her mother refuses to acknowledge her wishes, seeing her decision as an embarrassment to the family.
