Beyond Greatness - Women’s Football World Cup 2023.

With over a million tickets sold, the Women’s Football World Cup in Australia and New Zealand could be history’s most attended standalone women’s sporting event, according to FIFA. The tournament will run from July 20 to August 20 with 32 teams in the fray as compared 24 last time in 2019. The history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup began just 32 years ago, when China hosted the first official women’s tournament in 1991.

In the previous edition held in 2019, The United States won 2–0 against Netherlands earning their second consecutive and fourth overall Women's World Cup title. On that team was Mia Hamm, who became the first woman ever inducted into the World Football Hall of Fame. This year, the tournament will award $150 million to the winner, a significant increase from the $30 million offered for the 2019 tournament. ‘Beyond Greatness’ the new slogan for this world cup and it perfectly captures FIFA’s aim of taking Women Football in the hearts and minds of football fans worldwide.
