India's SUNSHINE moment!

India's space mission to the Sun, Aditya L1, marks a historic leap in the nation's space exploration endeavours. The mission, orchestrated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is a pioneering venture aimed at comprehensively studying our nearest star, the Sun.

Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on September 2, 2023 , Aditya L1 embarks on a remarkable journey to unlock the mysteries of the Sun's behaviour and its impact on Earth and space weather. This mission assumes great significance as it coincided with India's recent achievement of soft-landing a spacecraft near the Moon's south pole, demonstrating the nation's prowess in space exploration.

Aditya L1 is India's first dedicated solar mission and seeks to position a spacecraft in the 'L1' spot in space, known as the Lagrange Point 1 of the Sun-Earth system. This strategic location provides a unique vantage point for continuous observation of the Sun and its activities. It is ISRO's second astronomy observatory-class mission, following the success of AstroSat in 2015.

Aditya L1 is a testimony to India's dedication to space exploration and promises groundbreaking discoveries about the Sun.
